Jeremy Jay at Le motel

I like l'motel because it reminds me of Melbourne. Sitting around at hells kitchen or something. Jeremy Jay was spinning tunes for the night and I quite like him so I went along. The front room with the dj booth was full so it wasn't like I was there to see him but I could hear the tunes that he played. He did well. I would have liked some sort of friendly dancing area but there' no room for dancing there.
As I sit and talk to my friend Katie, there was that Marc Jacobs tote bag!! I'm unconsciously staring at it... It's adorable! Turned out the owner of the bag Anna is from Dublin and but lived in East Brunswick for a year. Her friend Catherine told me that I was only a few steps away from Marc Jacobs shop. But yet I failed to find it... Suddenly we became a group of 5 girls. I also met an American girl who was drinking an enticing looking drink at the bar. I had to get one. It was delicious. Don't know what's in it but tasted amazing! Had a good chat. Weather was awful with rain but the night I had was f-abulous.

I just booked my tickets to see The Strange Boys in April, the day before my birthday. I can't wait. I couldn't go to King Khan gig due to my silly infections. I ain't gonna get sick this time...
I also booked tix for Air supported by Mr. Jarvis Cocker in June. It's part of Cite de la Musique. Hopefully be good gig like 2007 V-festival in Sydney when they both played.

Drawings for this week.

This is what I look like when I'm on facebook.

Beautiful things that goes with Spring

Oh dear. Spring is coming and I am so excited. I deserve Vitamin D after all these cold days. I have dedicated last Saturday for (window) shopping. I even researched all Friday night sur l'internet and kinda decided what I'm looking for.

1. Pale blue skinny jeans (preferably cheap monday)
2. Marc Jacobs tote bag (in Pink)
First stop: Collette
It's a big concept shop located near the louvre. Big shop front and bright colours. Down stairs has a range of brands for boys, CDs, stationary, books, watches and phones... Upstairs is kinda like a showroom where they have amazing jeweleries and expensive range. Kinda like FAT or Alice but with extra zero on prices. (not to mention it's in euros) It also as a perfumery and a gallery. Beautiful to look at, no way I can afford it. It has a range of amazing designers if you want something special. It stocks Marc Jacobs but they didn't have the range of bags that I wanted... Later that night, I was told that Marc Jacobs shop is so close to Collette! But I wasn't to know at the time.

Metro: Tuilerie Line

Next stop: Le Marais

I wanted a pair of tight jeans like my Maze one but in light blue for Spring. There are lot of "boyfriend" cut these days in the market where it's straight and not tight. But I want tight ones! Walked around for a while and checked out a few shops but no cheap mondays! but then, I walked into Sandro (French label) and I saw a pair... It's not cheap I tell you. I walked away. Had a look at more shops, couldn't find a pair that I wanted. So, I had to go back to Sandro and try the pair on didn't I? There are number of occasions where I love something on the rack and I got really disappointed when it doesn't fit me properly. I was kind of hoping that to happen so I don't spend the money. However, they were just perfect fit... it felt good... OH NO. I must get them. and I did. I didn't take the photos but you will see soon. Later I found out that they were Jeggings not jeans which doens't really make that much deference to me anyways i guess.

I also want a pair of Bensimon's high top sneakers for Spring. It seems that Spring is an excuse for everything for me these days. My parcels that I sent from Melbs have not arrived yet. So I have very limited wardrobe. I'm getting so sick of it!!
These sneakers are so cute and adorable. They can wait as it's not that warm is Paris really.

I am totally obsessing over this amazing dress from Ba&Sh... Ba&Sh is another French label that I like (looking at). it's totally out of the question price range that I'm not even gonna think about this after this blog post.

Cheese, cheese and chocolate!

My friend Rosie has invited me to her Raclette party! I knew the thing existed but I've never had the pleasure of eating it... I forgot to take photos as I was too busy being impressed by the whole process. Raclette is a type of cheese and you melt it by putting it on the little flying pan like utensil. You get a plate of cold meats, gherkins. The grill bit on the top, you can put potatoes and other things. You put the little pan under the grill, then cook until how eva you want the cheese to be. Then, you put the cheese over your meats and potatoes. It is just amazing. It's really rich so that you get full quickly. But I just wanted to keep eating!!

Of course, for dessert, Chocolate fondue with strawberries. I am totally hooked on this melted cheese and chocolate business.

Today, I had to go and investigate this crepe shop "Breizh". My last visit to Paris last year, Charlotte wanted to take me there but it was closed on Mondays. I had Rosie's friend telling me about the place last night. Then, I couldn't stop thinking about it. I had to go.
There are so many to choose from including crepe flambees. I had Crepe with chocolate, pears and ice cream... divine... Heavenly. I didn't want it to end.

Saint Valentin!

I got sick again this week and Paris winter is not helping to get better. It's freezing outside... My friend Jerome and Silvia were kind enough to came over for dinner last night so I didn't have to go outside. Japanese treats! This was actually the first time that I cooked Japanese in Paris. God, the ingredients are so expensive compare to Melbs. I found this Japanese/Korean shop that I can get stuff. It's called K-mart. Not that kind of K-mart but it has a good range of stuff.

Today, I had a coffee with a friend that I met in a hostel during my hostel life. Shops and Cafes are open around Marais so we had a walk around the area. I get so disoriented in the metro. I know that I've been there but if I get off at a different metro station, I totally don't know where I am, specially in Marais. I found the vintage shop that I went to last year today! I have been trying to find it but I couldn't remember where it was at all. It's open on Sundays. No purchase until next pay day though.

It was actually Saint-Valentin today. I thought it was time for my fondue set to come out. mmm... I made mulled wine and chocolate fondue for Valentine's Day. My friend Katie and her friend Duke came over.

I love mulled wine.
I read some recipes and I found a good mix.

Mulled wine (the Bubble special)

1/2 Lemon
1 Orange
Honey
1 Bottle of red
All spice (cloves and cinnamon etc)
Brandy (depends how strong you like it...)
Water (to adjust the strength)

Don't boil the wine, dah. You want all the alcohol to keep you warm. YUM YUM.

Here are more drawings. I did this 2 weeks ago but I had to add things.

and this one.

Sunday

Due to my sickness, I didn't do any going out/drinking as much as I would liked to. Which allowed me to stay home and do some drawings. The one below is this Japanese actress from the 60s. She was so amazing. Now she's kinda like Glen Close(type cast as evil mother in low etc.) But back in the days in Japan, she was the IT girl. Apparently, she went to get her hair done like Audrey Hepburn when she was 12, at the age of 20, she got so sick of being in the film industry in Japan, that she came to Paris on her own and hang out with Doir, Yve Saint Lauren etc... In a film called "only on Mondays" she is so amazingly cute. There is a photo book released then, but now it's out of print and has ridiculous price on it. I'm going to find one and get one.

Everyone talks about Shakespeare and Co. I've never been there. My friend Mel showed me where it is and we had a look around. I must come back another time and spend a good amount of time there.

I've also never been to Louvre! But my excuse is that it's just so big that it scares me even going in there. But first Sunday of every month is Free admission there! so me and Mel made our way there, but it was too late! It closed at 5.30pm.... BOO.
Ah well, it was a good excuse for us to have French Fondue!

It was so amazing!! My first fondue experience. The photos turned out too out of focus cos i forgot to put the flash on. I'm sure you can just imagine this melting cheese with crusty bread. YUM. Good end to the week.

Outside is colder than my fridge.

This is the 3rd time that I have been sick since I've been away. All of them have been some sort of infections... I won't go into details 'cos it's quite unpleasant but it is indeed not a good thing to be sick... I started going to night French schools this week and i really couldn't take any days off so I was struggling. Luckily, I think I'm okay now. To be cautious though, I stayed home all weekend. On the Friday night, I wanted to check out this exibition at Point Ephemere. It's a bar/restaurant/venue/club. It's right on the canal. I got there thinking that it was a photo exhibition... BUT, turn out, it was "take photos" exhibition. As in, there are live moving object and allowing people to take photos and make your own thing out of it. I didn't really read it properly. I really should specially when it's in French. It was rather bizarre. There was a girl playing squash for 1 hours. She must have gotten a good work out out of this. Lots of peeps are taking photos/videos etc. It's also up on a big screen. Interesting concept. But looking at a girl playing squash didn't hold my interest for an hour... It's a monthly thing. (I read properly this time.) and next one's gonna be something different. It might be interesting. Good bar though. Better in a warmer weather must say.

I made the best sunday lunch today! It's a sandwish with Tortilla that I made last night, goats cheese, avocado and mayonnaise. I'm such a try hard Parisian these days that I get a baguette everyday. Half of one is great cos you can get a fresh one everyday, and is so amazingly yum.

YUM! Then, My French friend Mel has got me into chocolate fondue. Dark choc with a little bit of milk. I had to buy the little chocolate fondue kit. It's such a handy and a little bit special. Nice treat.
